Why We Don't Soak Your Feet

If you've booked a pedicure at Maison d'Or, you may have noticed something missing. There is no bubbling foot bath, no soak, no tub of warm water waiting for you when you sit down. That is not an oversight. It is a deliberate choice and one of the clearest examples of how this studio approaches nail and skin wellness differently.

Soaking feels relaxing. It is also one of the most overlooked sources of contamination in a traditional pedicure. A foot spa or basin, even one that gets cleaned regularly, is difficult to fully sanitize between clients. Warm water sitting in a tub creates exactly the kind of environment bacteria and fungus like best. Studies on salon foot spas have flagged this for years, and it is a big part of why infections and skin issues sometimes trace back to a pedicure that felt perfectly pleasant at the time.

Hospital-grade sanitation is not a phrase we use loosely. It’s the standard every appointment is held to, and a shared soaking basin works against that standard no matter how well it is cleaned. So we removed it.

Instead, your technician works with dry, precision-focused technique from the start. Skin is prepped, softened, and treated using professional-grade products designed for the job, rather than relying on water to do the work. This actually allows for more control, not less. Callus, cuticle, and nail work can be assessed and addressed with more precision on dry skin than on skin that has been softened unevenly by a soak. The result is a more consistent, more thorough service, not a shortened one.

We didn’t want to simply remove something clients love without replacing what it gives them. Soaking isn’t just about softening skin; it’s about warmth, ritual, and a few minutes of feeling cared for before the real work begins. So we built that feeling back in, just without the water. You’ll ntice the difference in the chair.

This is also why every appointment opens with a real consultation. Your technician can explain exactly what is happening at each step, why the process looks different from a conventional salon, and how it is working toward the actual health of your feet, not just the appearance of a finished pedicure.

If this is your first time hearing about dry pedicure technique, you are not behind. Most of the industry still does it the old way. Maison d'Or simply chose not to.

Precision wellness. Uncompromised care.
